Homework Policy
The Archdiocesan Curriculum Guidelines suggest that students in fourth grade should spend an average of 60 minutes per night on homework. In fourth grade this includes both written work and studying assignments.
We ask that a parent sign the Homework Assignment book on a daily basis.
If a student does not complete a homework assignment the following will occur:
1. Each time a student misses an assignment, a slip will be sent home notifying parents. Parents are asked to sign and return the slip the following day.
2. Students will miss snack time the day an assignment is missed and will be required to complete the assignment during this time.
3. Students will lose a point from their homework grade each time they miss an assignment. There will be a total of 60 points given for homework in ELA and Math each Trimester. This will count for 5% of their total grade in these subject areas.
Behavior Policy
In grades 3-6 we will be using a monthly communication calendar to monitor student behavior. Examples of warning behaviors that would be recorded on this log include but are not limited to: talking and or shouting out, being disrespectful, and practicing inappropriate cafeteria or recess behavior. If a student accumulates 3 warning behaviors in a given month, they will be issued a demerit. Certain behaviors such as disrespect towards classmates or faculty, inappropriate language, and physical fighting warrant an automatic demerit and will be handled on a case by case basis. We ask parents to initial the communication log each night. Students who go an entire month with an empty log will earn a reward!
Below is the system used for Discipline Notices for grades 4-8:
Discipline Notice 1, 2 and 3- There will be a parent/teacher conference either in person or via the phone after Discipline Notice 3. The teacher initiates the conference.
Discipline Notice 4, 5, and 6- There will be a parent/principal/teacher/student conference in school after the 6th Discipline Notice. The homeroom teacher will initiate the plans for the conference.
Discipline Notice 7, 8, and 9- After a 9th Discipline Notice, the student becomes a candidate for suspension. The principal and pastor will review previous notices and inform all parties of the decision. If a suspension occurs, then the suspension process will proceed.
Thank you for your continued support in our effort to teach responsibility and accountability to your children.
Attendance Policy
When a student is absent from class the parent must call into the Attendance Line at 610.287.2500 and choose Option 1. Information included with the call should be: student’s name, the student’s Homeroom Teacher, the reason for the absence.
Teachers or an assigned Homework Helper will record the work this student missed during their absence. It is the responsibility of the student to retrieve the missed work during their absence. Make-up work for a student will be given to them upon their return, whether it be for an illness or planned absence.
A doctor’s note must be provided for any student who has been absent three consecutive days from school.
