A collection for Nutritional Development Services will begin on Sept. 24 through Oct. 23. Plastic jars only. There will be a container in the lobby of the Education Center for the donations. An Archdiocesan representative will pick up the
donations on Oct. 27. Please help us with this endeavor.
Tomorrow, your child will be bringing home their homework book for the 1st Trimester. Each Monday I will assign 4-5 pages for the children to complete and return the following Monday. The children are to practice writing the letters, which we have already learned about in class, correctly and think of 3 words that begin with those letters. They are also asked to draw and color the word they chose. On Monday, we will complete the first page together to show you what I am expecting.
Homework is to always be completed with a pencil. When drawing and coloring pictures, please use crayons or colored pencils-NO MARKERS, as they can bleed through the pages and make it difficult to see.
When spelling the words, please HELP your children sound it out. If they are not sure of certain letter sounds, do not write them down. I am not expecting the children to know how to spell the words. If you would like to write the word in parenthesis under your child's spelling you may.
It is also perfectly acceptable if your child recognizes a word from a catalog, box, etc., and uses that to spell the word. This is part of their Environmental vocabulary and is encouraged. For example, if you look at the GIANT flyer each week, and they recognize it while working on the letter G, perfect.
If you have any questions about homework, please e-mail me.
Information about our field trip to Merrymead Farm on Friday, October 27th was sent home this past Friday, 9/22. If you are interested in being a chaperon, please send the portion of the form back by Friday, October 6th. You must have all of your clearances processed and on file if you want to be considered for a chaperon. Please contact the parish office if you are not sure about your clearances. I will send more details about the trip in the next couple of weeks.
We have been discussing what it means to be Bucket Fillers and how our words and actions can help fill another person's invisible bucket. All year long, we will be keeping an eye out for those special Bucket Filling moments to try and fill our classroom's bucket!
